French Press Secrets

If you are interested in making your own coffee, but you don’t want a weak cup of drip coffee or the intense strength of an espresso shot, you might want to consider buying a French press.  It will give you just the right strength and flavor of coffee.  However, you should make sure you learn how to use it properly to make a good quality cup of coffee.  This article will tell you a little about French presses and how to use them.

The French press coffee maker is a very good way to make a strong cup of coffee.  The caffeine strength is greater than a normal cup of coffee, but not as sudden as an espresso shot.  You can just add your coffee grounds and boiling water into the French press and push down onto the plunger tool to press the coffee firmly.  Those are the basics, but you should learn a few tips and tricks to using the French press.

The French press will give you an especially intense flavor in your cup.  Make sure that your coffee beans are coarsely ground before you use them.  Remove the top and filter from the coffee maker, add the grounds and pre-measured boiling water, and stir.  Let it brew for four minutes, press the plunging filter down slowly, and pour into your cup.

The process of slowly pressing the coarse coffee and boiling water into the bottom of the carafe actually extracts a very bold tasting coffee.  Once you have pressed the plunger down slowly, let it rest there for three to five minutes, depending on how strong you want your coffee to be.  Then press the plunger to nearly the bottom of the carafe, but be sure not to push any of the grounds through the filter disk.  You will quickly have a bold, high quality cup of coffee from your own French press.
